Why offer this for sale at eBay?
I figured ebay was the best platform to give the buyer the confidence to spend this kind of money - you really shouldn't "send money to a stranger on the internet" and while I have sold several domain names where the buyer has just sent me a bank transfer, there are so many scammers nowadays that expecting that from everyone is unrealistic. I have a well-established 100% feedback rating on ebay and their buyer protection means buyers know their money is protected if anything goes wrong. It won't, but I want the buyer to be happy from the outset that they will get the domain name they are paying for
Do I have to renew the domain name?
Yes, every .UK domain is renewed every year, you pay whichever registrar you chose to hold the domain with - I've spent over £150 over the years renewing choice.org.uk ... the next renewal date is 19th October 2026, my registrar 20i who are excellent, currently charge £9.99 + VAT per year and you can renew for 1-9 years to avoid having to renew every year
Is VAT included in the price?
I am an individual not a business and I'm not registered for VAT - I will provide an invoice but there is no separate VAT
Can you tell me about the transfer process?
All .UK domain names are overseen by Nominet, the regulating authority and all transfers are through them. I simply log in to my online account with Nominet, tell them the email address of the new registrant, I pay their fee, and they send you an email to complete the process. Here you can enter the new registrant/owner details and the registrar you have chosen to hold the domain name with - I can recommend 20i who are the UK based registrar I use, but if you currently have one to host an existing site it would probably make sense to choose them
What if I think this domain name is ideal for a future project but I'm not ready to develop that yet?
In the past, many of the domains I've sold were bought by other domain speculators and end up being offered for sale on domain sales sites at twice the price - if you think it's something you have a future use for, or simply want to prevent anyone else from obtaining it, buy it!
Would you accept an offer?
I feel I've priced it fairly considering what similar one-word .org.uk domain names have sold for recently and taking into account the advantage a domain name like this can give an organisation in a competitive market, but I'll set eBay to be open to offers but bear in mind that anyone can come along and secure it for the asking price at any time
Why are you selling this domain name?
I've recently retired and am facing several health challenges - I own about 20 domain names and they are my 'retirement fund'
